Reporting
The are 3 general areas of the Reporting view.
- The left margin is a repository for report configurations, templates, and documents that have been generated in your project.
- At the top of the user interface, you’ll set up report configurations by providing a name for documents and the unit of measure. A toolbar with user actions to save and delete configurations resides at the top of the user interface.
-
Below this, you’ll find a menu showing specific reports that can be generated within your report configuration. These expand to show a number of different options that can be used to customize the output.

Reports
There are 2 distinct report types that can be generated:
- Silencer Schedule. List of silencer product selections, presented in a tabular format designed to be copied to mechanical schedules.
- Calculation Summary. Calculation results presented with itemized documentation of each calculation receiver, calculation path, and calculation element.
Silencer Schedule
- Each silencer that exists in the project is displayed, defaulting as selected to be included in the schedule. Silencers can be deselected, if you’re interested in creating a schedule with only a subset of silencers selected in your project.
- The output format of the document will default to Excel.
- The Schedule By option allows you to generate the silencer schedule by Dynamic Insertion Loss or Performance Criteria. Dynamic Insertion Loss will display 1 or more individual octave bands in the output; octave bands from 63 Hz to 8000 Hz are typically included in a silencer schedule; however, you can deselect individual octave bands here.
- The Performance Criteria option will omit individual octave band requirements, and schedule silencers by the end result assigned to a Receiver (for instance, NC-25). Some users prefer to schedule by this end result, to ensure that product substitutions will be reviewed in detail by the acoustical consultant as a means of evaluating all aspects of the product.
- The Generated Noise checkbox will include octave band self-generated noise values for each silencer; and, the Generated Noise add will display an approximate increase in generated noise as a result of system effects. This value is unique to Vibro-Acoustics, and is generally not found on silencer schedules.
- Pressure Drop, and Pressure Drop with System Effects, default to selected and will display the aerodynamic properties of the silencer. As a general rule, Vibro-Acoustics recommends to display Pressure Drop with System Effects on silence schedules, which ensures that the installation conditions of the silencer are accounted for.
- Finally, there are several miscellaneous notes that you can elect to print with the silencer schedule. These are typically general notes pertaining to silencer schedules, but you can write in custom notes to index with the schedule, if there is critical information you’d like to convey to the design team.
Calculation Summary
- Each distinct calculation completed for the project displayed. Like the silencer schedule, these will default to selected to export the entire project; however, you can deselect specific calculations if you’re intending to export a subset of calculations.
- The output format of the document will default to Excel.
- There are 3 different options for “Views” to export. In general, these are sub-reports for your calculation package, each showing varying detail level. We’ll take a look at these in the report package that we generate.
With these options defined, clicking Save will store the report configuration, and you’ll see this displayed in the Reports section in the left margin. A download icon is displayed next to each report configuration which can be used to generate documents.

Clicking this, you’ll find specific documents generated in the Documents section of the user interface. The intent of storing report configurations, rather than reports, is to allow you to generate consistent report packages throughout project milestones. These report configurations will persist throughout the project; if you project requires changes, and you need to re-generate a report package, you’ll just need to click the down icon again.

Documents are given a name of the Report, Report Type, and Date. If multiple iterations of a document are generated on the same day, a number will be appended.
